Beijing, 25th May 2022 – The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (European Chamber), in partnership with Roland Berger, yesterday published Carbon Neutrality: The Role of European Companies in China’s Race to 2060. Based on a member survey and extensive interviews, the report identifies areas where EU-China cooperation can be deepened so that China can front load the technologies it needs to accelerate its carbon neutrality drive.
Driven by stringent environmental regulations and consumer demand, and guided by their global corporate carbon neutrality pledges, European businesses are well placed to help China peak carbon emissions before 2030, and push towards carbon neutrality in 2060. The report finds that 67 per cent of European companies operating in China are already pursuing carbon neutrality, and 40 per cent have established China focused decarbonisation teams, many of which report directly to the board.
However, three sets of barriers currently prevent European firms from fully contributing to China’s carbon neutrality drive.

Please find details of a day-long Climate Change Summit to be held with the Cambodian Ministry of the Environment and the British Embassy in Phnom Penh next week on 28.09.21.
The one-day Cambodia Climate Change Summit 2021 (CCCS21) by the Ministry of Environment (MOE), will bring together experts, practitioners, civil society and business to showcase Cambodia’s efforts toward sustainability and mitigating the impacts of climate change. CCCS21 will provide policymakers, leaders in environmental solutions and industry partners with a state of the art overview of current strategies and practices for tackling the impacts of climate change in Cambodia and the Mekong Region as well as laying out a vision for innovative solutions to some of the most pressing environmental issues in the Kingdom and beyond.
CCCS21 will be organized along four main themes corresponding with four approaches to addressing the impacts of climate change in the Kingdom of Wonder. The overall theme of the conference is Collaboration; public sector, private sector and civil society working in concert to develop innovative strategies for dealing with climate change. This includes encouraging national commitments to working within the Paris Agreement framework and developing strategies with industry and civil society partners to rapidly move towards a carbon-neutral future.
Within the themes of Collaboration, Mitigation & Adaptation, Green Financing options will be explored as avenues in which all sectors can unite to effect positive change and ensure future flourishing. CCCS21 provides opportunities for Sponsorship Partners to highlight their impact in these key areas:
Mitigation: The road to green recovery - accelerating a low-carbon transition in Cambodia as well as green infrastructure and business opportunities in a net-zero economy.
Adaptation: Community and natural habitat protection, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), showcasing solutions and sharing best practices in addition to business initiatives for strengthening a green economy.
Finance: Green investment opportunities in Cambodia, ensuring access to finance for all and unlocking private finance.
We are expecting 200-400 online local & international attendees for a hybrid in-person/remote event. Speakers from the Royal Government of Cambodia, foreign donors, local and international businesses, local and international NGOs and other experts will present cutting-edge solutions and showcase strategies for the future. Local and international press will be in attendance.
