IHG Greater China Unveils New Hotel Openings for 2022
In the "14th Five-Year" Tourism Development Plan issued by the State Council in January, tourism was elevated yet again from its original
designation as a "happiness industry" to a "national powerhouse industry," raising the status of tourism in China’s overall development to unprecedented
heights. As part of this plan, domestic tourism will grow strongly, inbound and outbound tourism will be promoted in an orderly manner, and China
will make great progress in building itself into a tourism powerhouse.
IHG Greater China today unveils a slate of new hotels scheduled to open in 2022. Riding on the booming leisure market, strong pipeline of properties and opening support, IHG is set to dazzle the market with iconic flagship hotels this year.
According to Bain & Company, China is expected to become the world's largest luxury market by 2025. IHG will also further enhance its luxury & boutique segment with grand openings of iconic flagship hotels across different brands this year.
"As the first international hotel group to enter China, IHG has not only grown alongside the development of China's tourism industry in nearly 40 years, but
also cultivated a group of world travellers and loyal guests. We have witnessed the huge impetus brought by the continuous growth of China's economy
to the tourism industry. China has become the fastest growing market for IHG, with leading pipeline numbers, strong brand portfolio and more destinations. We
firmly believe that China is on track to become a World Tourism Powerhouse and will eventually surpass USA as our largest market."
Jolyon Bulley, CEO IHG Greater China
