We are really pleased to share with you on behalf of CBI member PwC the UK findings of the 21st CEO Survey, launched at the World Economic Forum at Davos on 22 January. This year’s survey saw the highest number of UK participants in over 10 years, with almost 200 business leaders sharing their priorities for the next 12 months.
What UK CEOs told us:
● Optimism about economic prospects has more than doubled to 36%, the most confident they have been since 2015.
● They are even more confident when it comes to the growth of their own organisations, with 88% expecting their business to grow in the next year.
● Cyber security is now the number one business threat, followed by availability of key skills and rising employee and benefit costs.
● 69% believe that emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Block chain and Robotics will disrupt their current business models in the next five years and they need to acquire the right skills to create a competitive advantage.
● They are also very clear that improving levels of trust are critical to create successful businesses for the future. 93% of UK CEOs are committed to a transparent people strategy.
Overall, our UK findings – based on a global research sample of over 1,293 leaders – suggest that in a fast-changing and fractured world, the key to remaining competitive is a clearly defined business strategy, combined with the right digital skills and capabilities.
