CBI member Saint-Gobain recently opened its Research and Development Centre in Shanghai (SGRS).
The new 8,300-square metre building is located in Shanghai's Minhang district next to the first SGRS building. The two buildings will host up to 400 researchers in total. The expansion of this state-of-the-art centre will further increase Saint-Gobain's capacity to develop new technology in China for the Asia-Pacific markets and to support rapidly growing businesses.

CBI member SABMiller recently issued its interim management statement for the group's third quarter ended on 31 December 2013, reporting group net producer revenue in China grew by double digits on an organic basis reflecting strong volume growth of 13% and favourable mix, primarily driven by strong portfolio premiumisation trends.

CBI member GE recently announced that its Power Conversion compressor-drive technology is driving the Huaqi Ansai Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Ansai, Shanxi Province, helping China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) promote economic growth in western China.
The Huaqi Ansai facility is the country's largest LNG project. It features the first application of GE's 24-megawatt convertor in China and supplies an estimated two million cubic metres of LNG per day and 481,100 tonnes annually.
CNPC said, "GE's compressor-drive technology met our requirements for reliability and efficiency in helping us expand the use of cleaner natural gas to meet China's energy and environmental priorities. The project will play a crucial role in supporting the government's efforts to connect the economic development capabilities of the eastern coastal region with opportunities for new economic and social development in western China."
Francesco Falco, General Manager of the Oil and Gas vertical for GE's Power Conversion business, said, "Our industry-leading compressor-drive technology is highly reliable and efficient and can effectively address CNPC's technical requirements in terms of volumes and availability. The Huaqi Ansai project underscores GE's proven ability to provide an integrated package of original equipment, services, localized support, and timely communication to our customers such as CNPC."

CBI member Norton Rose Fulbright recently advised TIPTOP Energy Limited (TIPTOP) and Sinopec Century Bright Capital Investment Limited (Century Bright) on a US$3.5 billion five-year syndicated term loan facility.
The loan was guaranteed by China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group).
