CBI member Deloitte recently announced the opening of its 16th office in China.
Located in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in northeastern China, the new office will support Deloitte's continued expansion in the country.
Chris Lu, CEO of Deloitte China, said, "We are the first leading professional services firm to establish an office in Harbin. This newest office continues the ongoing expansion of our network in strategic locations across China. We are setting up our 16th office in Harbin, considering the growing demand for professional services in northeastern China.
"Over the years, China has been one of the priority markets for Deloitte globally. This is the second office opening in China for Deloitte in 2011 and the sixth office we have opened since 2008. It reflects our strength and commitment to invest in the China marketplace. China is an important market to Deloitte, evidenced by our total expected investment of $250 million to be made between 2004 and 2012. Deloitte is confident about the future development of China."
James Chen, Managing Partner, Northern Region, Deloitte China, said, "Harbin is one of the dominant business hubs in northeastern China, and many of the companies there are looking both for growth domestically and international expansion. With a population of over 10 million and a GDP growth of 14% in 2010, Harbin is the capital and the largest city of Heilongjiang Province, a major source of oil and minerals for China. The new Harbin office will leverage the firm's global network and international experience to assist the economic and corporate transformation of companies in Harbin and its surrounding regions. It will also support to improve the standards of professional services in Harbin and contribute to the city's eminence building. We hope to build a long-term strategic partnership with Harbin and contribute to the economic development of northeastern China."
As one of the fastest growing member firms of Deloitte's global organisation, Deloitte China is now the fourth largest member firm by headcount, behind only the U.S., the UK, and Canada.
