Atkins win landmark development project in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province

CBI member Atkins was recently selected by Chinese developer Huarong Real Estate to design the Huarong Hengqin Tower in Zhuhai in southern China's Guangdong province.

The mixed-use development will be one of the first buildings to be constructed as part of the masterplan for the new economic zone of Hengqin Island District, and will contain accommodation for a five-star hotel, international Grade A office space, and retail facilities.

Ian Milne, Atkins' Design Director, said, "The towers are orientated to provide hotel guests and office users with stunning views of significant landmarks in Macau, while respecting the development potential and view corridors of adjacent sites."

Opportunities for UK businesses in China Regional Cities Report

 

The China-Britain Business Council and the Centre for International Business at CBI member The University of Leeds have prepared an updated research report on 'Opportunities for UK Businesses in China's Regional Cities' on behalf of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

The original report, published in September 2008, focused on the market expansion and development of China's regional cities and the relevance of this to British businesses.

However, the last three years have seen major changes to the international economic landscape, with the global financial crisis and UK recession having a deep impact on British businesses and their internationalisation prospects.

The new report presents the findings of research conducted this year.

Shell expands in South China

Energy giant and CBI member company Shell recently opened its first Lubricants Technical Service Centre in Zhuhai in southern China's Guangdong province.

The new Technical Service Centre offers a range of services to key industry customers and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as technical research, marketing and training services related to their lubricants application. The centre also serves as a platform for collaboration between Shell and leading OEMs and research institutes, which helps Shell remain at the forefront in technological developments.
